I don't get people who like flavored water. Or tea, for that matter, since it's pretty much the same thing. I always taste the water way more than the flavor and it really detracts from the flavor, so I just drink plain water. Then again, all alcoholic beverages just taste like pure alcohol to me, so maybe I just always taste the worst in things.

Water tastes bluh on it's own. I need at least a unhealthy dose of sugar before I can stomach it. Or some peppermint leaves that have soaked in it for a long time, but while it's still hot. Or both.
OK, pure water does have this sweetness of it's own, but honestly, when is the last time you knew of that that was PURE water, without ground minerals OR city chemicals in it, coming out of that tap? I can't taste the water for the sulphur in well water, and I can't taste anything but the fluorine and stuff in city water. Bottled water tastes like plastic...

Yeah. Black tea - from leaves, not from a bag! -, steeped three minutes, with a tiny bit of sugar (optional, but may get rid of that watery taste).

How bad'd your water have to be to necessitate adding sugar to it? Never heard of such a case in my life until now. Also yeah, invest in a teapot so you can brew with free leaf, it's great stuff. Fond of a black sabah or chinese tea myself. White tea is up there whenever I can get my hands on some. Bay12 needs a tea thread imo.

A tiny bit of sugar helps round out the taste. Don't use so much sugar that the tea tastes sweet, though.

And a tea pot is not strictly necessary: Boil tea leaves in a pot, and pour the infusion through a sieve into a suitable container - old glass bottles work nicely, if you really have nothing else.
Of course if you're the kind of person who brews their tea with a bag inside the cup, there's no helping you anyway.

Pff, I just use a tea bag. The entire point of tea for me is the complete lack of effort it takes to make some.
