Anyway I was posting this when it got locked lets continue.

Since I've met most of my best friends by coincidence, I'm really paranoid that I might miss out on something if I ignore anyone, which result in my obsessively keeping tabs on people.

Facebook does lead to this confusion on my part on how much it is acceptable to read about another person. Like, I understand that if someone puts something up on there than they're probably ok with others knowing that but I still feel like I should be told in person about something before it's really proper for me to bring it up. Difference between "So, do you enjoy reading?" and "Did you enjoy reading "Treasure Island" those 3 years ago".

I don't understand why people are all weird about privacy. Unless someone is physically staring at my screen while sitting behind me and violating my physical personal space, I couldn't care less about someone looking up my internet history or something like that.

I'm not sure anyone would want to look at your history. Or mine, for that matter.

Same here. I'm not bothered by it.  I certainly don't see myself as for increasing how much monitoring we get, but it's not like I'm running around downloading movies or doing horrible illegal image stuff or anything like that.  And if somebody in government really wanted to jail me arbitrarily it would be so much easier to just make some shit up than it would be to comb through my internet usage for something vaguely illegal.
