Yeah, it does lower your accuracy quite a bit. I don't think that matters *that* much for a game like HL2, though, since accuracy usually isn't that important there.

You need accuracy for HL2. Unless you're some sort of luck-god with the grenade-lobbing and using the revolver for anything.

If by "lowers accuracy" you mean it makes accuracy rely more on your actual gun skills, that'd be awesome.
If it's just due to the whole setup being laggy and shit, not so much.

Doing it without motion controls seems rather convulted and confusing.
Besides, this allows you to do more than point your gun in other directions, you can hold it in front of your eye so you can actually aim down the sights and stuff.

Assuming Flashpoint is controlled similarly to Arma (which isn't a bad assumption, since they're by the same devs), it's done by holding alt and moving the mouse to move your head without moving your gun.

You can also use TrackIR or other similar head tracking to do it.

I was mildly amused when I got one Jon Mulder amid my x-com operatives. (openxcom)

The main thing which allows people to make precise shots in RL is placing a gun on a surface and putting the back of the gun on your shoulder. Guess what you cannot do with these motion controls? That. No amount of "gun skills" will overcome that.

CoD: Oculus Rift is going to come with a manly plastic gun peripheral to aid in aiming.

I have a neon yellow-and-blue with orange muzzle toy gun that is otherwise identical in appearance to an M1911. Perhaps good for kinect games in the future, heh.

As if it were actually anything like handling an actual gun in the first place.

They should add hydraulic pistons to emulate recoil, so you can actually break your jaw, just like in real life :P
(note: i don't know shit about guns. can they break your jaw? I have no fucking idea)

I'm assuming you could if you fire a powerful enough gun with the back of it pressed up to your face. I think dislocating your shoulder is a more common recoil injury.

I've played with arcade lightgun shooters that use pistons like that, making the slide move with every shot. It's actually really cool.
