Usually when people say something like "America, India, and China", they are talking about the country with the word America in it's name.

If someone said "the Americas", they'd be talking about the continents.
America is also a valid word for the continents.
Depends on where you live.

Well, this is just too amazing not to share:
Quote
Before his third inaugural speech
(A crafty act beyond the reach
Of chiefs before, and all at that),
His bodyguards, impatient, sat.

'He's late again,' the captain said,
Then sighed aloud and shook his head.
He placed his card - a diamond ten,
Then sadly checked his watch again.

'I wouldn't mind,' he said, 'at all
If just, perhaps, he'd text or call -
But no,' he cried, and bet a dime -
'With him, it happens every time!'

And so it was, not far away,
Obama called Michelle to say:
'I'm overdue, and late to boot...
But honey, where's my super-suit?'

Well, I can't find any good new pairs of pants to buy for my scantily clad character, so I've decided that that's his current main reason for adventuring- to raise funds for pants. Also I have been playing this game all day, and probably most of yesterday but I don't remember. :))

My character has a pretty damn ridiculous outfit going on, that's for sure. Weird midriff-baring black bandages around his chest and arms, a ragged leather cape, a metal pauldron chucked casually on one shoulder, a couple of bands around his legs in lieu of actual pants, and a pair of strange steel greaves with two horns sticking out from each kneepad.

...Oh, and a bag on his head. Yes. It completes the look.

I was always under the impression that normal nukes didn't cause *that* much long-term radiation where they are detonated.
The initial explosion causes absolute enormous amounts of radiation, but it's any waste material left over that will continue to be radioactive. AFAIK nuclear weapons are generally designed to minimise waste, but many of them were made so long ago it's not at all for certain.
If I remember correctly, big nukes(strategic) are powerful enough to blast the fallout into the upper atmosphere where the stuff just hangs there long enough for them to decay.

reminds me of that one adventure set in the modern day(tm) where somebody leveled an entire city in order to get ten bucks to buy four cartons of juice with because it was on some sort of special deal

Last night, I was struck by creativity.
I now have another poorly made Game Maker game, and two more subimages for my map.

My mother is a magician. I've spent the last week trying (futilely) to make something happen, and she just collapsed the whole thing into half an hour. Yaaay! So much less stress.

Willpower win today. I didn't have time to pack a lunch due to an emergency, and I went home to get sandwiches instead of going out to get fast food. :3

Suddenly I feel like sandwiches, preferably cheese, and wrapped in lunchwrap like I used to have as a kid. O.o
Anyway, good job!

Yeah, but more importantly it's a matter of language. Spanish "América" generally refers to both continents collectively (but apparently Hispanophones also consider them only one continent, which is arguably dumber geography than calling Europe and Asia separate ones). "Un americano" is a person from the Americas, and "un estadiounidense" is a person from the US.

In English and, AFAIK, most other languages, "America" et al. with no other context means "United States of America", and "Americas" plural refers to both continents collectively. "An American" is a person from the United States of America, while there is no specialized demonym for people or things from both continents together.

In no language does "America" et al. refer to only one of the two continents.

Holy crap, I was just reading a thing about .03, got up and went to get some toast, and came back to see this Alev's post. O.o Well then, I guess I won't start up another .03 adventurer just yet!
