Volunteered at animal shelter today, job was "Go in that room and play with those twenty seven cats." I think there were at least thirty cats.

That's a JOB? 0_0 I must consider doing this in the future.
Me too, mind if we switch places Kevak? :P
You could always come down to LA, I could introduce you to the shelter peoples.

Yesh, it ish a job. Technically I could be getting payed for it, there are a bunch of rich peoples who hire catsitters.

I'd just signed up to do something similar last week, and being able to help out all those cats was a wonderful experience indeed. Some of 'em were just desperate for attention and affection, and I had to give it back in kind.

I made the mistake about reading about toxoplasmosis today, which is why the above statement is in the past tense. Not only is it parasitic, but it's positively correlated to several neurological disorders, if Wikipedia's anything to go by.

It probably isn't, and I'm sure I've blown it far out of proportion, but that happens to play on two of my phobias at the same time and I can't bring myself to go back. It's a wretched situation, but there's cats. It's a hearty dose of happiness to any who put in the time, so give it a shot, other readers, if you have time and want to be able to care for things that care back.
I read about that years ago, normal shelters get the cats checked before they let them be played with by the volunteers, the one I go to actually quarantines them for more then a month and has several sets of labwork run on them if no symptoms immediately manifest.

When I worked in a shelter I never really worried about diseases- apart from getting the necessary rabies shot, of course, since that was overseas. I didn't even get ringworm! Or any illness, really.
I think my time overseas hanging out with mangy dogs and eating food from dodgy street vendors kinda supercharged my immune system.
A pity that's all worn off, now.

As a very long-time GM, I find that the best stories are the ones players get into without any GM interference at all.  But my GM style is extremely unusual, I let my players direct the action, I just arbitrate (and occasionally pull the rug out from under their feet.)

You should see my immune system, being quite unhygienic as a kid my immune system is like the terminator, the longest sickness I've ever gotten was never more than a day somehow, even though all of my family has sicknesses galore.

I would like to be able say the same, but usually the players will either sit on their thumbs, or they get big heads after preying on the weak, and go on weird power trip rampages.  It might be that I just don't get many groups with decent social dynamics.  Often the group has no cohesion or leadership.  When it does, the leadership defaults to someone that is too self absorbed and shortsighted for the position.

Despite this mornings atrocity (Taco Bell closed an hour before it was supposed to!) I have now been sufficiently burrito'd

Too bad my bike got stolen, but I guess that's sort of inevitable when you don't lock it.

I've lost an antique Schwin that way ;n;
I didn't think I had to lock it up in my own backyard, it's terrible.

My cutting board came, and I had my very first flying dream that didn't also involve dogfighting \o/
For about 6 readings I kept seeing that as "Cutting board game."
Was wondering if you'd designed a board game about BlackFlyme at work or something.

I too read that. Though I thought it was a board game where you cut yourself.

I was wondering why that existed, and why that arriving made you happy.
