I'm no hardcore MGS player (my console skills are weaksauce) but I did enjoy playing MGS2 in the midst of a severe flu fever.

I actually cried a little at *that one part* that's essentially the end of MGS3.  I already knew all the characters from the excellently written (though minimally drawn) Last Days of Foxhound, but that scene was just so tragic, and beautifully rendered.  A classic in the schoolchildren-should-experience-this sense.

Last Days of Foxhound is a completed, 500-page comic about, naturally, the year or two prior to Foxhound going rogue.  Liquid is the main character.  It takes a lot of liberties, and one of the best is that Raven isn't a dumbass.

Battlestar Galactica. Just, this entire damn show. Ugh I love it so much. I am legitimately tearing up because of Blackbird, the engineering, the look, the fabrication augh it's so beautiful.

I know the feeling.  Nostalgia had me rewatching TNG, but Voyager is more interesting right now...

Though Voyager's command officers are painfully loyal to the prime directive, the show at least addresses and questions that loyalty at every turn.  Both generations are damn good, but there's a difference.  Picard negotiates with Starfleet at (and on) his back, Janeway negotiates from a position of existential desperation.  Both positions are difficult in their own way, and a pacifist should ideally be able to work with either.

Went to see the new Planet of the Apes movie with work today. It was hilarious.

At one point, there is an ape riding a horse bareback into battle, dual wielding machine guns, through a wall of flames, while yelling at the top of its lungs. It then clears the walls of human defenders, before turning around and jacking an armored vehicle and ramming it through a fortified gate. All played completely deadpan and super serious during what is pretty much the movie's biggest action sequence. Ye gods, that was spectacular.

Apparently, having two root canals done in the same appointment isn't actually too bad. The knowledge that they're drilling down your teeth and pulling out the dead pulp is more uncomfortable than them actually doing it.

Of course, it's still pretty shitty that I have to wait for the crowns to be cast and made before I can chew on my left side.
