Had a good time out in Edinburgh today, lost terribly in penny-ante poker, and dumped 44 drinks on a friend who tried to screw me over in the last game of the night. Also getting pretty heavy signs of interest from a really nice girl (who, incidentally, is frighteningly similar to my mother and aunt), enough that I'm seriously considering trying to be awake and ready to go out to a festival in less than seven hours after hitting my limit and trying to sleep in the fucking noisiest room. feelsgoodman.jpg

You know, I really wanted to get blind, stinkin', belligerent drunk tonight. I seriously did. I left work early fully intending to get drunk. Too drunk. The kind of drunk that kills you.

I'm sober right now.

Fuck all this shit. Fuck my defense mechanisms and coping mechanisms and all that shit. Fuck people's bullshit, and people sucking, and people always wanting shit that is bad for them. Fuck all of it.

I choose to be happy. Despite anything and everything that comes to pass, I have made a conscious decision to be happy. I'm not going to burn the emotions out of myself anymore. I'm just going to fucking ignore them. Let them synergize with my happyness. Yeah, happyness. Fuck your spelling conventions. I give not one single solitary fuck. Seriously, I've developed the most MAGNIFICENT case of the fuck-its, that it actually has broken my goddamn mind.

Fuck it. I am happy.

I choose to be happy, and I can do anything I set my mind to. Guys. I have a bowl right here to smoke. And I don't want to.

I want to go on a walk. I don't want drugs. This has literally never happened to me before.

I feel like the one god damned ecstatic dwarf in the fort right now.  Screw the fact that I recently had surgery and that shit still hurts, it has rained for the past four days consecutively.  Basically nothing can ruin my mood right now.

(Also I picked up the newer version of Final Fantasy Tactics recently, so that's a bonus.)

I kinda wish I lived somewhere with a monsoon season, torrential rain is always fun. I mean, unless you have to work outdoors or something. And then it's still pretty dang fun if you're working on a team, in my experience anyway.

Yoink, I totally echo you on living somewhere with a monsoon season.  The fact that this has all been happening in the northern portion of Texas probably makes it about 10x better though.

Eh, it'll probably have a monsoon season within the next few decades, way the climate has been going.

I know it's been pretty "monsoon"-y in Canada the last two summers, even in the middle near the Lakes. So down south I can't even imagine.

People think it's weird, but sleeping while it rains and storms makes me feel more comfortable and secure in bed. Maybe a verification of the walls or something? I dunno.

I can definitely relate. Waking up to the sound of rain (especially on a tin roof!) is an amazing feeling. Especially if you then have time to curl up someplace warm and read a book and/or nap.
It hasn't rained here in a while, sadly.

Our roof tends to leak (earthquakes do that to 30 year old concrete tiles) so waking up in bed when it's raining is usually caused by water pouring in through a geyser disguised as a light fitting.

As such, I don't like sleeping during the rain.
