I am contractually obligated to agree with you that swing is the best thing. Even if you weren't saying that. Especially if you weren't, with a side order of hunting you down and making you say it, yes.

... okay, it's more like obligated due to blood but whatever. Great-grand pappy* was a drummer in a circus swing band. It took years before I actually heard any swing of note (damn the 90s era south), but the first day I did was a good day indeed.

There was an 18 piece band, and four of the guys in it have been doing it in the same building every week for 30 years. The ballroom is in full original 50s decor, coca cola ads above the bar, the whole deal. There was a old couple who danced to every song, just smiling as wide as possible. It was adorable, you could really tell they grew up dancing to it.

The curvature of the earth has defeated me.

I have woken up, naturally, at 5am, with no exhaustion or further sleepiness.  I went to sleep at 9 pm.

On the other hand, I'm home from Ireland, via metal tube suspended several thousand feet in the air by pure bullshit.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Wait wait wait...how is the 90s South responsible for keeping you from swing? Squirrel Nut Zippers were huge down here in the late 90s.

I'm glad to see swing having yet another revival. Totally digging the electro-swing thing in the UK.
