I want to take this moment to gloat at everyone who created a G+ account rather than waiting it out until someone realised just how stupid the idea was.

Technically, if you have a Youtube or Gmail account, you have a G+ account.
Also it's good that they're getting rid of this stuff, but the possibility of people losing jobs makes me sad. It's like when there was a fake story about Facebook revoking their Oculus buyout and the entire Oculus being forceably disbanded, and people were actually happy about it.
