So, there are a lot of friggin' horrible movies out there.

Reviews are fun!

Especially old Japanese monster movies-- there was one set in 1999 where the UN had a base on the moon, but it was mostly staffed by Japanese people.

Oh, and some apparently awful TV movie involved KISS having magical powers and saving an amusement park from a mad scientist.

I am not pulling this stuff out of thin air, I swear.]

Sorry if I just interrupted... whatever this is.

My stick dude sort of shakes while he speedlines disappears as a result of invisible balefire.

According to the misleading background.

Hey, man, I wouldn't call those terrible. They sound pretty rad.
...Admittedly, I really love cheesy crap. And that crap sounds pretty awesomely cheesy.

Actually, I like cruddy movies too-- I just don't have the time to rent them all.

*sigh*

Netflix might be a good investment, if your internet's semi-decent. It's got a surprisingly good stock of schlock.
Admittedly, you could also get just as many of those movies through uh, sea-faring ways, but that's besides the point.

I have to ask, does anyone know what the heck is up with Japan and the UN?
I honestly don't know why the UN seems to be such a big thing in Japan. Most of the rest of the world views it as an extremely ineffectual council of nations, but the Japanese seem to really be into it. They're the UN's second biggest financial contributor (contributing roughly half of what the US contributes), and the UN seems to actually be involved in, and do stuff in Japanese fiction. Versus for example American and British fiction where it's basically completely ignored, and just maybe referenced once or twice.

Off the top of my head, it may be because they've been forbidden from having a standing military since WWII, I guess?
Also I think they've wanted a permanent UN seat for a while, so... yeah. I 'unno.

I did some more work in the code mines and overhauled some fundamental stuff. I still haven't got around to implementing feature creep, but that's good. Now I calculate new points with vectors and restrict placement in a few other efficiency-boosting ways. And a side effect is that it all looks a lot less wonky, too. The important thing is, everything's better with vectors.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
