Yeeaaahh, anthropology is basically what the philosophy majors spend their off time lamenting as a waste of academic hours. We love those folks for trying, but if there's anything that's more of an economic waste of a degree...

The underwater basket weaving majors all flush with cash from selling some effigies at Burning Man, shaking their heads at how little money you can make as an anthropologist.

I decided having an addiction to pop tarts isn't a bad thing really. So I've recently ate a pair of them. Untoasted of course since I've literally never eaten pop tarts warmed up. It's just not how I know them.

That is not a bad thing and it makes you a good person. Yes, that's right, pop tarts are all it takes to be a good person.

It doesn't matter whether you eat pop tarts hot or cold or frozen, or if you don't eat them at all or have never heard of them. By existing, pop tarts make you a good person. Kind of like Mr. Rogers.

Sorry to disappoint, but neither of those have made me a remotely good person.

As long as you keep it under wraps, and stay a functional addict. When you start shanking people for money to feed your tartaholic tendencies, then you might have a problem.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I'd go meet Socrates and Aristotle, and document exactly how hoplites held their freaking spears and...

AW NO, I'M A HISTORY NERD. HALP.

... I don't wanna be a history professor.
Have you thought about anthropology, specially cultural anthropology?
Quote from: Archer
Thus continuing the circle of "why bother"
Depends on what the spear was used for. Like, hoplites held the spear by the waist/hip for more control but to sacrifice power, and over-shoulder for less control but for more striking power.

Also do talk to Plato and the rest of the Greeks, they'd be interested in how our technology failed.

I don't know what other cultures or peoples view owls as, but as I awoke from such a terrible nightmare today, when the sun was not yet up--I could hear the hoot of a snowy owl from the forest-backyard outside my window.

It's pretty calming, and quite nice to see that the owl that you saw a loooong time ago (with the same tone and pitch of its call) still is out there.
