Prequel? Kinda sad right now, but I love it all the same and I hear it gets better, eventually.

Trust me, it does not get better. The worst parts are when the author completely ignores every single suggestion post and railroads the character into doing something absolutely dumb for the 3rd time. Honestly, it's a pretty accurate parallel to depression and/or alcoholism. I just stopped reading after a while because I already deal with that shit in real life.

Trust me, it does get better. Pretty recently, though (in terms of number of updates, not actual time), and I wouldn't say it's gotten happy or anything. We're just on an upward trajectory with some surprisingly meaningful milestones.

Actually, a lot of the places where railroading is complained about, that suggestion was actually havily backed for a while. The only exception I can think of is when Katia decides to get drunk. The rest of time times Kaz just gets retroactively accused of railroading so people can feel better about making poor decisions.
