There's a sort-of-works sort-of-doesn't hint system. Like, I don't know how it works? But of the places you can move the peg, if the circle is lighter then that's a good bet for where you need to place it. Sometimes there's even some lines!

Also, someone in the comments posted how you solve it. >_>

Fuck those people, I blindly powered by way through it on sheer stubborn anger.  Katia has a lesson for us all.

"I see where I went wrong."  I'm glad one of us does, cat.

Any of you solve it the first attempt, without prior knowledge of the game in question or reading the comment that describes solving it?

I sure as hell didn't, but I got it on the third attempt. I had no goddamn idea what the puzzle was supposed to be at the start. Is there actually a board game similar to this?

After a while, the flash basically holds your hand and stop you from making the same mistakes.

Yeah, it really is just called Peg puzzle though.

I got it on the second try, and there was a message just for that.

You've never seen the jumping-peg triangle thing?  (And got it on your third try?  Asshole.)  Yeah, that's one of the oldest board-games you could legitimately call a board-game.  It's a good joke here too, because the most often place you'll see it is sitting on the table in country restaurants.

There's also a square version, featured in the Super Mario RPG, but the triangle is more common for some reason.

No, I've never seen that game before, as best my memory can recall.

I've actually got a physical version of the game sitting on the table behind me, it's something that I got for my last birthday.

So I looked up the Prequel game out of curiosity.

"You must not spend a lot of time in ancient ruins". Ha.

Also, Yeezus Christ, does the Prequel guy not have a day job or something? Because making this stuff must take hours of free time.

EDIT: I finally did it! Without cheating!

He took about 3 months to make a single update.
I'm pretty sure he has a day job.

According to his posted excuse-for-not-updating, he does have things he considers more important than updating a webcomic, but it doesnt state whether or not he has a job or colloege courses or whatnot, so yeah, he could be a formerly-drunk hobo on a street corner being harassed by the ghost of an elf.

edit: ninja'd by an objectively more reliable source! Bah!

Oh, well. I never pay attention to the timestamps on these things.

I've been listening to the Revengeance soundtrack for a while. They lyrics, they're so cheesy, but I like it anyway.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
