Best fries are untainted by condiments. If they are thus inedible, then they are unworthy to be called fries. Nay, then they must be called potato-sourced garbage.
Do you consider seasoned fries (like the curly ones at some restaurants) to be "untainted"? Because if you consider those to be tainted, yer missing out on something amazing dude.
Oh, my, yes. Seasoning != condiment. Then it's just part of the fry, after all.

I'll admit to having a fondness for chili cheese fries, but they tend to be made with not-very-good fries anyway, and conceptually I think of it as an entirely different dish. Like how a steak is different from beef wellington.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

No love for salt and vinegar?
The best fries are covered in gravy and cheese curd. Poutine FTW.
[sigh]
Don't you fucking dare start being an elitist. Seriously, give poutine a try before you diss it. >_<

One amplifies flavour, the other becomes one with flavour. WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED, WE FLAVOUR POTATO!

The best fries are either thickly cut and covered in salt or covered with chilli and cheese. This is fact.

I'd like to try poutine if I get the chance though.

If you do, make sure it's cheese curd and not 'proper' cheese. Seriously, poutine with 'proper' cheese on it is disgusting.

The great Curd Shortage of 2013. Never forget. ;~;

Chips are a shit-tier food. Plants that taste good raw are better than one that tasted bland even when prepared.
Come on at me happy thread.

Thank goodness. I was going to have to denounce you as a heretic otherwise :P

I eat my fries with ketchup, or in certain cases (sweet potato fries mostly) nothing at all.

Chips are a shit-tier food.
The chances of you becoming potato compost have risen threefold. The chip protection agency have eyes and ears everywhere.

Also you are objectively wrong.

Plants that taste good raw are better than one that tasted bland even when prepared.

80% of actual food in it's unprepared or plainly prepared (Just heated/made edible with minimal effort) are utterly bland. That's a really, really, and sorry for saying this in my own thread since it's a bit mean. Objectionably stupid thing to say. 0/10 you score no points god help your soul blah blah something something.

Potatos and other roots/tubers in all their forms are the greatest food currently known to mankind anyway.

If you do, make sure it's cheese curd and not 'proper' cheese. Seriously, poutine with 'proper' cheese on it is disgusting.

As someone who genuinely would like to eat this some day, any advice on where I might be able to find curd rather than fully finished/processed cheese? Given I live in the states and I wouldn't even know where to start looking for this. Or even how exactly I should prepare poutine.

The best fries are thickly cut and crispy on the exterior yet not burnt, lightly salted and applied to condiments that do not include barbecue sauce or mustard.

My friends and I read all of My Immortal together. That was the most hilarious, brain-damaging, exasperating, exhausting, and ultimately cathartic experience I've had in a while.
