Taking the rest of the day off. I woke up well before the crack of dawn to drive 350 miles to deliver on-time, and got to deal with the joy of hard-packed snow-covered roads. Had a brief moment of terror when my brakes failed to stop me properly despite going parking lot speeds. Thankfully, nothing bad happened.

So yeah, I feel I deserve this shower, strees-free dinner, and full night's rest

Cracking hyperbolic functions and watching Gwen, le livre de sable

A weird 1985 animation with a sort of odd style of animation reminiscent of that used by Terry Gilliam (Monty Python animator). It tells a rather unusual story about a group of people living a desert where strange household objects of various sizes, from really huge, to tiny are deposited every night by a strange being. There's also an ostrich which has constantly regrowing feathers that they pluck and eat for sustenance, they let it go afterwards, so every day the people ritually hunt the ostrich on stilts (they're the ones on stilts, not the ostrich, that would be silly).

After going through about four mice in the past few months (they all kept breaking), I've finally ordered one off of Amazon with a warranty.

So I kept hearing about how amazing the film Frozen is, so I finally watched it, and yeah, it's actually pretty amazing. Shatters all the "traditional" crap about fairy tales, teaches girls to be strong and not trust assholes they just met, throws the idea of "love at first sight" out the window... Awesome film.

Then I realized this film was based on The Snow Queen, the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. And I further realized that the reason I know that is because four and a half years ago, when I was working in a boarding school in Switzerland and it was time for the annual Winter Play, and the teachers in charge wanted to do The Snow Queen but couldn't find a script, I volunteered to write one.

I haven't read this script in four years, but I quickly located it and read through it and... IT WAS AWESOME. I mean, seriously, honestly, I think I was a better writer back then than I am now. But that's okay, because I made The Snow Queen awesome before Disney did it.

I hereby invite everyone to read it. It's actually not very long (the play was only 40 minutes total when we performed it, including all the moving around and musical interludes), but it's just... I'm really proud of this. And I suddenly feel the need to go back and read a lot more stuff I wrote years ago, to get me inspired and push myself to get back to work on that novel I've been neglecting for 2 months now. You hear that, world? Past me is inspiring present me to get her shit together.

Really? It makes me kind of sad... That poor mouse is going to have such chronic health problems and won't be able to climb and play with all the other mice. I'm pretty sure that one got fed that much for some sort of clinical trial, so it is for a good cause, but still I wouldn't want all mice to have to be like that.
