As a guy who was born a little too late for the whole Doom thing, would you say that I should go for this or the original Doom instead?

You can play the original or any mods of doom, including brutal doom, on a pc with the appropriate files and programs. As long as you have the DOOM.wad or DOOM2.wad files (both of which can be purchased on Steam or acquired by some other method of appropriation that may or may not involve pirates and rum) and a method of running it (there's several freeware programs made by the doom community for that), you'll always have the option of playing the original game.

Brutal Doom is a pretty great game in itself. It's less of just a gore mod and more of a complete rebalancing of the original game. It's way faster, smoother, and harder than original Doom, with multiple changes in gameplay and balancing. Original Doom can still be fun, but could seem slow or less interesting in comparison to the new FPS standards from games like Halo, Team Fortress 2, or Quake. Brutal Doom easily matches the newer games in responsiveness, speed, polish, and fun. And the mod is free and can be played on various free maps made by the community. Quite good value.

Huh... Does that make interesting levels yet? Or not quite? I remember it back when it was slige.

I've no experience with slige. I assume Oblige is based on it. From what I've seen of the program and the levels played so far (2 levels, lul) it's pretty impressive. It exceeded my expectations at least. There's videos of a guy playing through levels genned with all settings maxed out and using Brutal Doom. First video, for reference.

Had a brief moment of terror as I got close to this truck stop, as there were at least a dozen trucks parked on the street outside it - typically a sure sign that the parking lot inside is packed and I would have to go somewhere else.

Thankfully and surprisingly, at least half the parking spots were unoccupied so I was able to take my pick. Dunno why so many were parked on the street, but at least I can attempt to catch up on sleep debt in a secure location.

Also, saw something wonderful earlier: a truck with a Pikachu as a hood ornament. That brought a smile to my face

Game Dev Tycoon mostly looks the same, so it wouldn't make for too good images, though it probably is the easiest to make jokes with (popular culture references everywhere).
So discounting that for being not particularly suitable for the medium, I'd said SC4, because it allows more unique design and so on.

So, with Greatorder's Sims 3 LP, I've been considering making an LP of my own.
Here are the games I could use:
-Simcity 4 Deluxe
-Civilization V
-Game Dev Tycoon

What do you guys think? Which gane should I use? It's gonna be image based, in case that affects anything.

I would toss my vote in for either Simcity 4 or Civ V.

Civ V could be a really great lp game, lots of pictures to take and a changing political landscape. Then again so does Simcity4 and it would also give the people following along a bit more say in what is planned for the city.

My vote is... Simcity 4.
