No, you're thinking of Mirai Nikki. Yume Nikki is a free computer game. I can't tell you a lot about Yume Nikki since I've only read about it though.

I have to check that out.  I was curious about the game because thought that I might like the atmosphere, but I got the impression that the game play was consecutive "needle in a haystack" searching, so I avoided it.  This seems like the perfect compromise.

It's not too needley. I've been playing it recently with only vague knowledge of where things are and I'm 2/3 of the way through now.
