Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy Guild Wars 2? Not just as an MMO, but as a game. I recently went from repairing a recently besieged fort town to defending a camp from rampaging centaurs, and all along the way I felt like I was actually doing something. Even if those were just world events that happen a bajillion times a day, I just ran across a thing that was happening, and people were like "We need help!" and I was like "Sure homie let me help you out I got your back."
When I do stuff in that game, I feel like I'm taking part in something bigger than myself. I don't do quests because "Oh I need that quest reward because it gives me extra Precision," I do it because it's something that honestly feels new. I'm doing it because I feel like I'm taking part in an overarching story in this world that keeps bringing out new and interesting things for me to do. I feel like this is what a lot of games need to do better, and it's a feeling I strive to bring out in my RPG campaigns. The player shouldn't just plod along and be roped into every situation because the world needs them or some crap, they should do it because they want to. They should do it because they're interested and invested in the world around them, because without that, we're just playing games to play games.

Oh, yeah, I used my time on the Bay 12 forums in the Modding section as community service for my senior project.

I said it was 90 hours (ten more than minimum). My math actually came out to it being over 500 hours, but I don't think they would believe that.

I pointed out to my counselor that I actually made the cut off for the change over, thus I only need 100 hours instead of 150 hours. Meaning I got 49 hours dropped from my total for about fifteen minutes of conversation and ten minutes of emails.

On the eye color subject, my wife has golden eyes. Like, real freaking golden eyes like you normally don't believe actually exist until you see them.
It's incredible. I, on the other hand, have rather boring green eyes.

Grey eyes are actually a thing? Huh. I've never seen that in real life.

I've got this dark olive green eye color. Pretty much like this, only maybe slightly darker.

In other news, my eyes have some really neat patterns in them. Fractals and natural symmetry, pretty cool to notice. I never really looked at my eyes so closely before.
