Yeah, you've probably seen this before but it made me giggle nontheless.

That entire word problem sounds like some kind of tongue-in-cheek satire of word problems in general. Mentally calculating the speed of the car by the engine's sounds? Appears legitimate.

It reads like some kind of thing Douglas Adams or Joseph Heller would write while bored in college. Pretty great.

Actually, getting a good estimate of the speed is very possible using that method. If you have experience with it.

Though probably only if you were familiar with the car. I mean, you could make guesses from the size of the boot/back seat or wherever you're stashed, and then the engine sound to get an idea of how powerful it is. But that wouldn't be as accurate as if you actually were familiar with that model of car (or maybe even that particular car).

Oh God, I love physics problems like that. I got one dealing with two people dancing on a "massless dance floor". "Massless Dance Floor" would be an awesome nerd-rock band, or a good title for a HHGttG sequel.

Also, time-waste power:

Tom has a mass of 73.7 kg and Sally has a
mass of 56.7 kg. Tom and Sally are standing
30.9 m apart on a massless dance floor. Sally
looks up and she sees Tom. She feels an
attraction.
If the attraction is gravitation, find its mag-
nitude. Assume both can be replaced by
spherical masses and that the gravitational
constant is 6.67259 × 10−11 N · m2/kg2.An-
swer in units of N.
This one? I feel it's somewhat of a joke question considering:

Pssh, get on my level. 84 days, 1 hour and 41 minutes. At 8 posts-per-day. It's gone up from 7 since a couple of months ago. I am slightly concerned for myself honestly.

Yes, that one.

Also, it was mostly the 15 days exactly that struck me.

Nice! In lieu of something more worthwhile to say, good choice of celebratory avatar. :)
Vector has the cheesiest of avatars. And by that pun, I mean that her avatars are always the best.

Aesthetically edible.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
