Cakeday tomorrow.
The day after that, the US defaults.
Let them eat cake?

Also, new Terraria is awesome.

Are you suggesting you didn't want madness and despair for your birthday?

Inconvenient timing; I was going to give it as a present to someone I know.

My pumpkin-spiced mocha cost me way too much but it's much too delicious.

Yes, I may have bought into the Octobresque mentality, consumed the pumpkin-spiced kool-aid, sold my soul to the autumn, but my tongue is happy indeed.
Friend, the only problem with the Octobresque mentality is that it means you can't get pumpkin-spiced goods all year.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

This. I really don't see why I shouldn't be able to get good fresh-baked pumpkin pies all year.

And as I write this, I am drinking hot spiced apple cider.

Indeed, the appearance of spiced cider and cinnamon-y/nutmeg-y/allspice-y things at this time of the year is the only reason I haven't labored to build a giant mirror that would keep the Earth in perpetual summer.

Autumn and Winter are bitches, but they do bring some nice things.

I hear you, I am no fan of winter. I hate the cold but stuff like Glögg makes it almost worth it. (I don't know if it is exactly the same thing but I guess in english, glögg would be mulled wine with raisins and almonds.)

Hahaha, mirror all you want, it would help not vs the giant curtain I'd erect over the sun to keep this hellswamp in perpetual winter.

That said.

Internet back! Few days without. Yet again reminded how incredibly unsettling it is to be without 'net access these days.* Also introduced to the new sensation of it taking days to contact people, since all my phone options went out at the same time.

I don't see how people before telephones and crap lived like that, beyond staying within shouting distance of people important to them. It is so incredibly limiting. And disturbing. Things could be happening, and finding out would be days/weeks distant.

I know I lived like that at some point, when I was younger. But now. It's painful. I love me's the internet :'(

*Especially when it's forcible. I mean, going without out of choice is easy, but not being able to if desired/needed? Awargle.

And -now- you know why "I wasn't alive for billions of years before I was born, why would I worry about being not alive after I die?" doesn't hold water for me.

I didn't -know- what being alive was like before I was born (having internet was like before I used it), so I had nothing to compare it with. Now I quite like having internet (being alive) and would like to prolong it as much as possible! :I

That say: Yay Frumples Back! PARTY IN FLORIDA!

I had my kilt on today. Man skirts are not as cold as people say they are, your legs are often very warm from the large woolen socks/stockings you wear with them you see.

Heh, I'm the exact opposite. I can't wait for snow to begin falling! I would certainly help Frumple build the curtain. The last couple of weeks have been enjoyable, because we're finally getting to the part of the year where 20°C weather is no longer the norm.
