Damn girl, I want this.
I kinda feel like this should be made into some sort of forum game involving celebrities as nineteenth century generals.
That sounds like a terrible idea. Because it involves celebrities. We don't need Paris Hilton playing the part of Napoleon.
Paris Hilton isn't one of the options, so you don't have to worry about that. Players would be able to choose from either Bill Murray, Dave Grohl, David Bowie, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bob Dylan, Michael Clark Duncan, Ricky Gervais, Steve Jobs, Bruce Lee, Kanye West, Keith Richards, Patrick Swayze, Tom Selleck, Chuck Norris, Frank Zappa, Eddy Murphy, will.i.am, Hugh Jackman, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sir Tom Jones, George Lucas, John Cena, Will Smith, Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, Sylvester Stallone, Gary Barlow, or Sir Chris Hoy.

I'd count myself in just so I could play as David Bowie.

And they would have to defeat a villainous immortal Keanu Reeves.

I think Valve is trying to force Linux into the best gaming kernel and I love it

but linux has no game-

well, fuck

i sort of see a trend here, ps3 being the first place steam expanded to. what if we turned it into "red star has no games" now and made valve release something that works on best korean computers and smuggled it into the country for great justice

it sounds like a good idea at first

Why not? They needed their own OS for Steambox anyway, and they're pretty much the only real contender for Linux retail games.

It's a very profitable scenario for them.

Beneath the starry sky we broke apart
Our perfect systems thrown into the void
But even now, my vestige of a heart
Remembers what ambition has destroyed
In our abstraction we shall shine more bright
Than all the living lovers of the Earth
Whose fragile forms face unremitting plight
And who in death are robbed of all they're worth
The body is a monument to waste
Eroded by the hope of earthly bliss
All animals are driven mad by haste
Their passions temporary as a kiss
In garbled databytes I see a face
I find you in the grace of cyberspace

Oh, I love ARGs! And apparently this one is launching tomorrow. And has been in the works for 1000 days. Dedication!

We've been investigating this for a while now. PronunciationBook joined Youtube on April 14th, 2010. A day later, PronunciationBook(dot)com was registered by a “Thomas Bender”. Doing a reverse IP lookup indicates that Bender also registered the domain of, and was responsible for, the ARG "This Is My Milwaukee." That ARG also had themes of districts and the website had a 60 day countdown, much like this one. It also ended on a cliffhanger.

Apparently this is a continuation of This Is My Milwaukee. Interesting!

The poems also come in GIF form... with a moderate seizure warning from me:
Spoiler: Pre-Sonnet Bits (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Sonnet Bits: (click to show/hide)

From what folks have gathered so far, the ARG is a story told by an AI who was running the PronounciationBook Youtube Channel, but attained sentience during the process. And it's trying to convey some kind of story or message about a team of operatives in South America, and tied to some kind of post-disaster setting possibly related to the disaster that proceeded "This is My Milwaukee". I think the fate of the squad or events related to it are what the sonnet may be referring to.

I'll be interested to see where it goes!

So, do you reckon it's a product promotion?

Almost surely. I really haven't seen many ARGs that aren't. All the ones I've been involved with have been, at least.

Wait fuck it's going to be Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Calling it now.

Wait no that's stupid.
I should really try to avoid conclusion-jumping when I'm tired. No way it could be Ghosts though; that already has a release date and big coverage and the like.

Actually, no. If 77 Days is anything like Thomas Bender's last ARG, it's just a really elaborate interactive puzzle and narrative that he's telling for fun, employing volunteer actors for on-location meatspace stuff, and who knows how many folks on the internet. Some of the clues so far have linked the LA area as the site for this one too.

EDIT: Here's the "backstory" of the ARG so far, taken from the content of the uploaded PronounciationBook videos arranged chronologically
