Harvest Moon by most part was a farm management game, Animal Crossing is more casual focus than what Harvest Moon is and people do like it ALOT. That being said the Harvest Moon series has declined for the past years getting a slight pickup with the releases on the 3ds.

according to medieval heraldry which i know jack shit about, putting a deer is a good way to say "i'm totally harmless and not going to stab you for your titles bro" while a lion is "totally going to stab you, your enemy, your enemy's mother and her horse because you looked at my fence wrong"

Well, last I checked you can't grow crops in Animal Crossing, nor can you raise animals or marry the girl/boy of your dreams. So I'd say no
