Just finished Fallout 3, and I am really annoyed by the ending pre-Broken Steel. I saved beforehand and sent Fawkes in for me. It told me that he sacrificed himself and became a true hero. That's right, the Mutie who took 70+ rads per second as a small favor for me was unable to take 16 RPS for about 30 seconds. I just did some reading, and found the a robot you can get as a companion will actually refuse to enter the chamber if you don't have Broken Steel installed, since that would be the smart option. Truly it is a case of enforced stupidity. However, Broken Steel is cool. I have a collection of about 2 dozen assorted Enclave suits of armor, with standard, Tesla, and Hellfire versions. I really wish you could get Paulson as a companion after MZ; he was pretty cool. It would be even better if you could find Somah post-MZ, having her repair skill was nice. Actually, having any of the MZ guys as companions would be good. Most of the DLCs were too linear. That is to be expected with, say, OpAnc, which is deliberately built like a pure FPS, but having more options would be a must in, say, MZ. MZ was cool, but crazy buggy.

As someone who has actually been coerced into playing tabletop games at knifepoint, this actually does happen. It did not gratify the GM as much as you might think, though your mileage may vary.
