I just watched what might be my new favorite episode of classic Doctor Who. Fourth doctor (Tom Baker), serial 93 - The Invisible Enemy. I just watched part 2 (of 4) and I was crying with laughter at the Doctor's proposed solution to their problem, as well as the introduction of a character I had always wondered about.

The Doctor makes the doctor shrink short-lived clones of him and Leela down to microscopic size using a panel he removed from the TARDIS. The doctor is then instructed to scoop them up off the floor and inject them into the Doctor's neck so they can explore inside his body/brain and somehow find a cure for the parasite that has taken over him. He warns that they will exit his body through the tear ducts. Note that this was made in 1977, 10 years before the film Innerspace came out.

This is also the episode where K-9 is introduced. He's the pet of the doctor working in the space hospital. I'm looking forward to seeing how he becomes a part of the Doctor's team. Also hilarious was that this doctor dresses like a caricature of Sigmund Freud and speaks with a fake German accent that he sometimes forgets to use.

I've been working my way through the classic episodes for some time, as I was unfortunate enough to grow up in the USA in the 80s and 90s and never got to experience the Doctor growing up. Now and then I recognize something that is referred to in one of the new episodes and it tickles me inside.

Other happy news: I just made homemade refried beans and made up some impressive (if I do say so myself) fajitas. Tasty!

This afternoon I read 'A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and 'A Study in Scarlet', both for the first time.
I almost forgot how good it feels to sit down and read a book through in one sitting. And then doing it again.

This afternoon I read 'A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and 'A Study in Scarlet', both for the first time.

Oh and also while I was reading in a café an old man started talking to me about Hitchiker's Guide and how he named his boat after one of the characters. Rich old people are weird.
