I just got home from another nightmarish trip to the supermarket. The institution of supermarkets seems to be designed around making you as miserable as possible, then overwhelming you with such a barrage of colors and sounds that you make poor purchasing decisions and occasionally break down crying.

But today, as I was passing by the deli counter, I noticed that the display which is normally filled with pre-packaged store-made salads of various types (mostly based in mayonaisse and/or cabbage) was instead piled high with tastefully arranged cans of beer.

Nowhere but Prague could the store be like "well, we're out of salads. But beer! Have a nice barbecue!"

I wish I'd had a camera so I could have taken a photo of it.

So I was at the beach today, saw one of the most awesome and beautiful things ever. There's this small creek that goes into the sea and at its mouth is a small bridge. As I was sitting at the bridge and drying off I was looking at the water. And the flow of water from the creek combined with the waves of the see to create a light spectacle. The sun was reflecting off of the surface and because of the odd and chaotic waves it looked like fireworks, or a dozen little stars racing towards me, each as bright as the sun but very small, quick and short lived.

So that made my day so far, the happy for the rest of it will hopefully be going to see Roger Waters doing his The Wall thing which is apparently quite amazing too.

poor purchasing decisions

Yesterday I was walking through a supermarket before I went to my performance, and spotted one of those little variety packs of tiny boxes of cereal.

Half price.

Yes, that it very much a thing... but only in San Francisco, I think. Don't think there's much of a danger anywhere else.
