Went to the Magic prerelease, lost every match. I am okay with that, even if I'm kicking myself for the (many) stupid mistakes that almost certainly cost me entire games. It was still fun, because every game but one was very close enough that I felt like I had a chance. The suspense was there! I even won one game, even if I ultimately lost to that player in the other two games in the match. Also, Lightning Talons has earned the appellation "Traitorous Swine", which is fairly impressive for something that isn't even a creature.

Opponent has 18 life, I have 10. Opponent has Cyclops Tyrant and a Bonescythe Sliver, both tapped. I have 9 lands and nothing else on the field. In hand, I have Lightning Talons, Act of Treason, and Shock. It's my turn, and I draw a Blur Sliver, the card I most prayed to draw. I tap all my lands to cast the Blur Sliver, enchant it with the Lightning Talons, and steal the Bonescythe Sliver, swinging for 14, and count on him not being able to pump anything hard enough to drop me after he gets his Sliver back. Best-case for me, he hits me for 3 with the Tyrant and keeps the Bonescythe to block, and I burn it with the Shock on my next turn, and swing for lethal. Then he casts Lightning Talons on his Sliver, earning them their new designation when he immediately murders me with my own strategy.

I wish I could've gone, but by the time I was off work the prerelease had already started. Same deal tonight, and tomorrow I can't go either. Meh, prerelease isn't that important anyway. Maybe I'll go to the Theros prerelease in September.

This is Hollywood we're talking about man. I halfway expected it to have a really awkward shoe-horned in romance subplot and end with us learning to coexist with the giant monsters
