And it's not like they went bankrupt or anything, but the leaders actually changed their minds.
Which kind of blew mine.

Normally, I don't read the pdfs attached at the bottom of some techdirt articles, I doubt I'd understand them very well and the article itself usually doesn't do a bad job of explaining it.
This one however, is both rather readable and sorta hilarious. Not as just plain funny as the katamari ball though. Thats still better.

The final boss rubbed me the wrong way, but Serious Sam just scratches all the right itches when it comes to twitchy, jumpy, colorful shooters. If Doom were chopped up, it'd be the badass part, with Painkiller taking the grimdark.

Speaking of which, I've been getting serious urges to play some Doom again, which also has me thinking again about remaking all the game's assets in 3d.

Saw Life of Pi.  Really not my thing (the movie version), but there were a couple of visuals in there that were truly fantastic.

Lead did deserve a nomination, though, true.

Ah, Doom never gets old! Have you tried Scoredoom? That's good for a lark. Hell Ground is my favorite level set and a must if you haven't run it yet. Oh, or what about the Doom/Gmod conversion?

I get too excited about these things. Fie on your tactical brown cover shooters, I'm gonna be over here having fun.

I am really tired of WW2/Counter-Terror themed pseudo-tactical/realistic shooters.  I would love to see a return to more Quake/Doom/UT-style FPS games.

I'll take a look at the GMod port.  Sounds promising.  I've wanted to see a quality 3d update to the game for a very long time.  To this day, I think Doom has the best art direction of any game ever.  Most memorable line-up of creatures, environment, color palette, and sound effects I've ever seen.  I think most of it would translate incredibly well to 3d.  Obviously, given most of the sprites were made from photos of physical sculptures, which is something most aren't aware of.

Spoiler: Proof (made by me) (click to show/hide)

Someday, I will go through and give them all the same treatment.

I was very disappointed with Doom 3 for utterly failing the artistic quality of its predecessors.  It felt incredibly generic.  Most of the creatures were nondescript mottled grey humanoids, completely lacking imagination or any of that awesome melding of gothic hell/sci-fi imagery that is exactly what put Id on the map.  I'm hoping they remember that for Doom 4, but know enough to keep my expectations low.

All those organs. And they make sense O_o

I still wonder why they don't just die when being shot due to the lack of protection. :P

Still, that is awesome.

That Cacodemon is still my favorite thing I've ever made.  I love to show it off :P

A friend of mine is making a 3d print of it soon.  Looking forward to that so much.

All those organs. And they make sense O_o

Because I spent about two weeks collecting and studying photos of roadkill and invasive surgeries

I'd like to see a 3d baron of hell. Those things gave me nightmares as a kid, i still remember the scream when they see you.

Whenever I get around to it, that's the next one I want to do.  Never gave me nightmares, but I'll never forget the first time I heard that scream, at the end of E1.  I actually turned around and ran in-game, without even bothering to see what made the noise :P

I always thought those bovidea facial structures gave an awesome impression of wicked alien intelligence and calculated ill-intent.  Combined with that posture, they looked like they regarded you as an insect that they were going to calmly walk over and squash.
