Speaking of birds of prey, just saw a peregrine snatch a baby rabbit out of my back yard.  :D
Peregrine falcons are awesome.  But bunnies are also awesome.
Too falcon too furious > Bunnies
Mainly because bunnies are really just sophisticated devourers of worlds, whereas falcons are one of the most intelligent [possibly the most] bird alive. Who knows what goes on in their brains?

Indeed, I am installed as an onboard computer in every falcon.  The falcons are me.

Pathos programmed pails of peregrine pidgeys.

Did someone call for falcons?

Can't compete with ravens as far as smarts go. They harness fire, use cars to break open nuts, and build bridges.

Lagslayer speaks truth. I've worked with Corvids and Raptors first hand. Raptors have grace and kinesthetic intelligence, but even young Crows and Blue Jays can be remarkably bright, devious problem-solvers.

Our local ornithologists have put a webcam in a nest of a kestrel (a species of falcons). It has hatchlings.

I can't tell because it's 2 AM there at the time of me watching and everything is black and white, but that is either adorable or a headless elderich abomination made of feathers.

Spoiler: Someone had to (click to show/hide)
When I was in elementary school, there was some book I read about a boy and his peregrine falcon trying to live in the wilderness.  After reading that, I did some research, and fell in love with falcons for a couple of years, and wanted to work with them as a job.  I eventually moved on to bigger things, but if right now you told me I had to work with raptors for a living, I wouldn't be able to complain.

Oh god, I was crazy about those books, too.  I wrote all sorts of essays about wanting to grow up and live in a tree.

You guys too!?

Holy crap I loved that book. The second one when his family moved in with him, I didn't like as much, for exactly that reason.

I vaguely remember that I stumbled upon the second one and couldn't start reading it because I couldn't stand that the falcon got taken away at the beginning. I think. I don't quite remember.
