Hi, Akky. c:

@Max, I prefer to sleep with multiple men and drink hard liquor.

It feels more ethical and less like I'm dirtying myself.

Well beds full of drunk men have caused a lot less damage to society than politicians.  :P

Hehehe.  I saved that chronicle in a text file on my computer for posterity, in case I ever need to look back and laugh at something horrible--and I didn't want to forget.  I'm glad you enjoyed reading it... it was legitimately one of the more surreal experiences I've had.

Can't wait to see how walking for my PhD tops this ;D

Also, you can use it to remind yourself not to be one of the 10 PhD's who go to the general commencement. ;)

My sister's general commencement was actually pretty good, since they had people just stand up instead of "Everyone walks at once" and then they did a departmental commencement in a different location later. Also, the speeches were tolerable and the main speaker--Twitter's CEO, I forget the name--was funny. He actually went to try and get in on the comedy scene after graduating, but didn't make it too far. Also, so many mentions of Squirrel Club.

Afterwards, my sister commented that it's kind of depressing to see people passing a homeless dude on the sidewalk and then feeding the squirrels.

That story was a work of art, Vector. Reminds me of Hyperbole and a Half or something like that.

Props for surviving all of that chaos.

Line oriented morality...  :P
Look, I know people don't like Hitler, but there isn't a single historical account of him pushing in line! You have to be reasonable about these things.

At a friend's house, watching the first couple of Pokemon movies and basically going all MST3K on them. Fun times!

Not sure if Vector's commencement makes me happy or not. On the one hand, damn good story. On the other hand, sounds like it was the opposite of good times. NEUTRAL OUTCOME.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I smile at her and greet her politely, and she says: "Oh, you're the one who left the mob to come join this line!  The only one in this entire graduation who cared about being fair and not cutting ahead of your friends!  You're the only good person here!"  She doesn't seem like she's being sarcastic.

That story was great, but I completely lost it at "You're the only good person here!". It's all so wonderful and absurd, but that woman was just the preposterous little cherry on top.

You know, screw the degree, I think this ceremony was your real reward for making it through undergrad. I wish I could have seen it... sounds like one of those things that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Drunk people are hilarious.
You can do the same things to sleep deprived people too. Conversation I had last night, which sadly I was part of-
"Who took my pillow!"
"I don't know.  Mines still attached to my stomach"
"I think those people over there are playing soccer with it."
"Tell me that at least we have brownies left."
"Tyler smashed the last one into his sister's face."

Next year, we have all decided that we're NOT going to stay up the night before, so that we'll be merely running on 20 hours of sleep deprivation.
