So avast! is that slow? Time to get rid of it.

From looking at how to fix an unrelated problem with it on their forums I saw threads complaining about how Avast! 8 was slowing systems to a crawl at startup.  Sometimes overloading the CPU during regular running.  But it didn't seem to happen on 100% of systems.

Sure enough when I uninstalled it to prep for a reinstall to fix my unrelated problem I decided to check my system performance with it uninstalled, only using MSE. (which I kept handy as a simple 'not computer literate' man's antivirus solution for clients, I did not have therm both running at once) Startup didn't take a quarter of the time, and the system ran significantly smoother.

So clearly I was one of those small percent that have problems, and since there is no solution on their forums (that actually works) I switched.

Gotta say though because I don't want to give them too bad a rap because they did successfully protect my computer for 2 years, that Avast is still a massive improvement over Norton and McAfee.  Those two would probably say it's to keep viruses from working quickly when they get in and it's working as intended...  At least the avast guys acknowledge it as a potential issue.

It is absolutely fucking hilarious that there is someone on this forum who is so off-put by the existence of a furry thread that they felt they needed to take action against it, and they thought that the best way to do that would be to spam gore.

Block "Goawayfurries" if you haven't yet. Man, I hope Toady can figure out whose alt that is so they can get banned and we can see who's making a fool of themselves.
