Had a fund time just sitting around playing Victoria today. It's been a while since I've had the time to just sit around all day playing a game.
I played some as Sweden, however that didn't wind up going very well, so I played some as Japan... then late in the game my fleet got sunk fighting the British, got a bit bored at that point, so I swapped over to China... Annexed Korea, Dai Nam, Siam... and another single state nation who's name I can't remember, released 'em all as satellites, proceded to get invaded by Russia. I spent a while trying to fight that war before I conceded that no matter how many thousands of spearmen I threw at them, the Russians weren't going to be beat by a technologically unadvanced army like mine. Especially considering the attrition rates I was suffering... So then I westernized, built up my industry and military to crazy levels, and kicked the Russians around in return, taking back the provinces they took, as well as that one area that start with that I have a core on. France joined their side so I wound up humiliating them...
Fun times, what was going on in the rest of the world was really fun to watch play out though. In the US the civil war didn't go so well for them, the confederacy successfully beat the US, and wound up taking a state off of them in the process. The Empire of Mexico meanwhile (don't laugh, it was a real thing), managed to make it's way up the west coast colonising it all the way along california up to washington, wish the British took. The British also somehow wound up with Texas, I don't know how. The US wound up starting another war with the Confederacy later on, and managed to actually win this time around.
Then there was a really crazy great war. Apparently in this version of the world war 1, Britain tries to press the claims of Greece against the Ottomans, and winds up alongside Russia and Prussia fighting a coalition of Austria, France, the Ottomans, and Australia... Yes, you heard me right, Australia broke free of Britain and fought it in WW1 Meanwhile the middle kingdom (that's me), and Japan are just chilling out and watching the fireworks unfold.
Britain and Russia wound up losing and winding up disarmed and such. Russia stopped being a great power, and had me take away it's Chinese provinces, and Britain wound up having the US take it's US provinces away as well. Pretty entertaining, I might wind up trying to take over India now that Britain is weak, and then assert dominance over the eastern hemisphere (not sure what I'll do about Japan though, they refused to honour their alliance when I attacked Russia).
