The Twins, of course.  When it comes to sports I cheer for the local team first; and never abandon them no matter how bad they get.  They're definitely a team that can win 70-80 games this year, not great, but not nearly as bad as the last two years either.

I agree with you in cheering for the local (or actually, near-the-hometown) teams. I must take offense, however, at your choice of the Twins.

Despite being from Michigan, I've been a Mariners fan since roughly 1995, when I started paying attention to sports other than football and hockey. Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., AND Edgar Martinez! Despite those three powerhouses, the team went 64-98. It wasn't a good year for me to become a fan, and it really hasn't been since (except '01, when they won over 100 games and added Ichiro, and King Felix's perfecto last year,) but I love the Ms anyway.

Note: I'm also a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (since '90ish) and the San Jose Sharks (since '91, their inaugural year).

I never really got the appeal in watching sports. I can"'t feel any sort of investment or stimulation in it.

It is a tribal thing. People like to belong to their little sports tribe and fight with the other tribes.
Seriously, you walk into the wrong part of the stadium in the wrong teams colors, and they throw shit at you, but the actual players couldn't care less about their alignment, it is just a job to them...

Humans are tribal animals, we like our little groups that are better than all the other little groups.
