Now that I have sufficient DFHack experience, I can finally begin work on the rest of Fortbent.

Writing my paper for English composition class. We have to have five works cited, three of which were given to us (Herbert West: Reanimator, To Build a Fire, and The Darjeeling Limited.) Who did I just cite? Motherfucking Plato, that's who.

2 days later and the Time xkcd webcomic is still going apparently. :D

Gif of the images (which so far as I can tell updates as the images do)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Each frame in the animation lasts half an hour IRL.

It updates live. The question now is whether or not the comic will keep going or just remain as the current picture of a castle. Guess we'll know in another 13 minutes. :P

Latest entry in the Wolfire Games Design Blog, exploring how indie studios compete with AAA games, by not competing.

I particularly liked the bit on how most every AAA game is a new iteration of an established gameplay format, which can be reduced to something like 3rd-Person Cover-Based Shooter with Regenerating Health, 3rd Person Brawler with Quick-Time Events, or Open-World Adventure Game with Linear Quests. Though they're helping to push the limits of hardware and technology, their nature as high-budget large-team productions has left them incredibly inflexible, and doesn't provide much room for innovation of design, so they're left just refining on existing models.

I love the Wolfire Games guys. Probably my favorite modern game developer; they really stop to consider the art of game design and the crafting of experiences, and have a really refreshing perspective. The fact that they created the Humble Bundle too only makes them more awesome.

You know I just realized.
Somewhere out there, in the vast universe, lies a dead planet that is now the grave of an alien race that was quiet, contemplative and rational enough to realize that space travel didn't actually offer them any real return on investment, so they just sat and died. They might have been able to for fill Enrico Fermis prophesy, but now they are just remains waiting to be found, hopefully before their sun devours their lifeless planet.

I love you human race, never change.

. . . Forget all my complaints, this game is ridiculous and fun.  I just chased a sucker through a collapsing tomb and stabbed him and all his buddies.  Like, about 10 billion times apiece.  *shk shk shk shk shk*

Ooh, Osaka!  She's so cute :3

And no, Max, we're not pacifists when the sound effects are so nice and the animations so bloody and entertaining.  Hehehehehehehe... time to find another sucker to put a knife in.  This is AssCreed, after all, not "Rainbow Ponies Deluxe."

Although nothing against the fan base of Rainbow Ponies Deluxe, or any other Hasbro owned games.  :P
