What, you didn't read the NYT article? I think that was where it was mentioned.

Haven't there been a couple NYT articles? It's hard to keep up with them.

I put some sesame cereal powder (sort of like cream of wheat type stuff, but with sesame) into a milkshake. It's kind of excellent - sort of like a slightly off malt, in a good way. I am liking this.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

In an earlier interview Toady mentioned how in a bad time in college, he decided to try meth. Apparently it sucked horribly at first, but then was awesome (and his friends took him out to a restaurant while he was on it for their amusement), but then afterwards he figured that was how an addict thought and decided to never do it again.

He he he, I think this came up somewhere above. It depends on how many of us survive! If it's just me, Zach'll probably release it, unless somebody killed me. If there is a global superstorm or zombies or a meteor or something that gets both of us, then we don't have a plan.

Mother apparently recently cleaned up her desk at work, and she gave me a bunch of Shuttle mission patch stickers (STS-107, 109, 110, 122, and 129-132) and some commemorative pins of the ISS and shuttle that she received over the years.  Rather enough to help set aside the minor issues I'm having in coding up some maths to plot variation in flutter based on the uncoupled plunge mode's natural frequency for a simple exercise in aeroelasticity coursework.  I'm not sure what I'll do with them, but they're rather neat to have.
