New version of Office 365 is out!

I coordinated and automated some of the testing of the linguistic translation of the administrative interface.

So today was a good day. I got my first test back from my dumb social sciences class, the teacher started by putting up the highest grade (which was 99/100) the lowest grade (which was 48), and the average (which I forget). It was sort of embarrassing, I expected a grade in the 70's or 80's because I didn't really know the answers to quite a few questions, and I was wondering to myself who in the class actually managed to get a 99, then when the teacher handed out the exams I realised it was me.

Then came math two and half hours later, the adorable Asian girl who sits across the isles from me asked me for help with some last minute revision problems she was having issues with, which was nice because 1) out of the four or five people there she came to me, which suggests that I give the impression of actually knowing this stuff. 2) I could sort of actually help her with it. 3) Socialising! 4) adorable Asian girl is adorable.

I think I did pretty well on the math exam too, although I was kicking myself on the way back home when I realised how I could have done the tough extra credit problem I was struggling with.

I've jumped on the bandwagon of trying to make this stuff.  I added cheese and pepper because hotdogs and noodles didn't sound very appetizing on its own.

They are exactly as advertised, but it was fun to make.

YEAH

I GOT A DICE SET AGAIN. 1d20, 3d6, so it's a small set. But still, way better than electronic dice. I missed this so after losing all my old ones.

That was simply fantastic. I imagine it must have cost a small fortune to put that together.

Neat. Now, if only the ads could be bypassed...
Adblock plus.

I recommend the same to all my friends. Don't leave home without it. it also blocks those text hijack things that inject ads into plain text.

I have been helping people with various programming problems.
Nothing in the world makes me feel like I am actually good at something like helping somebody with programming. If I could I would have a kid that I would call up every time I felt depressed and talk him through ORMs.

Why do you think I stay on the modding forum all the time?

I mod these days for fun, mostly, which is why I'm making a Zelda mod. For fun. Because Zelda is fun, and stabbing Ganon in the face with a master sword? I'm sure that'll be bitchin', especially with next version of DF.

I think I did well on my exam, and I've done the first bit of a sort of distraction project that I'm thinking I might need in order to keep homebrewing D&D material effectively. Porting Magic: The Gathering creatures into D&D statblocks should provide me with functionally limitless distraction when I need to work on something that isn't my Latest Big Project, hopefully allowing me a way to recharge without diving into the next such project.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
