I'm sure the little chains would let the fifteen carts expand a lot even if Hans had them :P
Big marts sometimes have like thirty carts rattling around, and one centimeter of expansion for each would add up to 30 cm, enough to hit a hapless automatic door o.O

Today, I hit the automatic sliding doors to the grocery store I work at with a stack of probably fifteen or so carts, and knocked one side off it's track, fucked it up pretty good. Got the 'maintenance' man, and the person who is basically 2nd/3rd in charge to help me fix it.
The 2nd/3rd guy told me, "Next time you hit the door with the carts, break them all the way, that way we can get new ones. I won't care if you do."
This makes me happy.

Also, it's really hard to stop fifteen carts moving at any speed, because trying to apply the 'brakes' by just grabbing the handles and stopping... Stops one cart, and the rest keep going like some kind of superslow kinetic weapon.

Think of cart stacks as asteroids, parked cars as planets, and yourself as a large drive block.  :P

Hans Landa: Relativistic Weapon

I'm surprised that y'all don't have the little locks that hold them together; I mean, we have them in most stores here, and Melbourne is a lot less crime-prone than The Methiest Place On Earth (I imagine, anyway)

This may amaze you, but most of the meth heads around here don't steal grocery carts. They make meth, and smoke meth, and get arrested for making/smoking meth. And we're small enough to not need the locking things of which you speak. We keep all our carts inside the store after we close anyway.

Well, we could put two and two together and write a book: "The Shit that Hans and Max Did: You Won't Believe This Shit."

Quote from a friend on Facebook:

"After consuming a bowl of cereal, I went to put the milk back in the fridge but instead became distracted, absentmindedly stuffed the jug in my purse, and left for work. I am a 90-year-old dementia patient trapped in the body of an 18-year-old."

It was a half-gallon jug.

... while I haven't managed to walk off with something that large, I do have a rather nasty habit of walking off with other peoples keys (pens, occasionally wallets... whatever's at hand.) in my pockets without exactly noticing I've absconded with their loot. I kinda' sympathize.

I've stuck milk into the cupboard before. Both my brother and I have this problem, and to make it worse, my dad sometimes would intentionally put things we had just taken out in strange places, just to mess with us.

No, no. No wanderlust. Or compulsive lying. And while I am somewhat below the national average in terms of height... not that much.

But then again, that may be what an internet enabled kender would say. Hrm.

I seem to remember you. Or at least that odd username. :P

Welcome home.
Hey Akigagak, I remember you being a cool person.

I am remembered! My life is complete. Most of the names I remember (you two included) still seem to be around, except for Vector who vanished nearly two months ago.

I don't really have a reason to post in this thread besides that, as the job search continues to be frustratingly unsuccessful, I'm still at home with the parents and have had utterly no luck with the ladies.

But on the up side, I actually have a local group to play D&D with, so woo.

Y'know what I need? A Kaizers Orchestra T-Shirt. Unfortunately, although I do have money, it's either in physical Brazilian banknotes or on my debit card. I suppose I would use my card, except that between leaving for Finland on August 4th and leaving for Brazil on December 20th I acquired about a hundred new books, many of them ordered online discreetly and now living in foster care with a friend until I can pick them up. (And what a collection it was, between The Languages of Australia, The Axiom of Choice, Encyclopedia Britannica (eleventh edition in 32 volumes) and A Collection of Teen Angst Poetry.) When my parents found out...they didn't actually give a damn, thankfully, since they recognize that there is no such thing as too many books. But I'm not sure it would be responsible to order anything...although a T-Shirt is not a book.

Or I could just start saving up for the OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY.
