The most evil person's intentions are pure and good, at least in their own mind. Not so much when put to outside scrutiny.
Ehh...not always. Sometimes it's the fact that their intentions are so vile that makes the deed attractive.

A Memory of Light is out, bringing the Wheel of Time series to a conclusion. Except not, apparently, on Kindle until April.

Doubtful, unless they're insane.

I will however accept them doing such because others believe it vile. Sort of a "fuck you and your silly morality" thing.

No one does anything they, themselves, consider bad unless A) they rationalize it away as better than some alternative, B) they're insane, or C) they don't actually think it's truly bad.
A hypothetical person could knowingly do something selfish and not care, but since they don't care, it's C: they don't truly believe it bad. Other people's morality tells them it's "bad."

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

D) Person knows they do things that are bad, but don't feel bad about it because they also believe that everybody engages in equally bad behavior and they don't feel any need to behave better than what they perceive as the norm.

Adobe is giving away CS2 programs, while slightly old they're still pretty good stuff, especially since they're free :D

Car survived the trip to the nearest town and back without anything catastrophic happening. Coulda' done without the multiple visits by lizards and spiders, but... considering the last time I drove it further than a local store and faster than 35 mph was like...

... um. Before october. Probably before august. It's been a while. And it hadn't been cranked in a few weeks, driven longer than that, etc., so forth, so on. I could stand to treat the poor thing better.

Anyway. For an old '95 ford escort station wagon, it's... not doing as badly as it could be. S'only got around 89k miles on it and it still actually works. Usually. Also is purple. That makes it better than things which are not.

This. Fucking finally. And strangely enough, Brandon Sanderson's work ghostwriting the last volume last three volumes has made me like him a lot more than any of his own stuff.

I just made the most delicious Top Ramen Ever. Just threw a few spices in with the flavor packet before heating it, added an egg after 3 minutes of cooking, let it sit for a few minutes, and then cooked it another minute (Cuz the egg was still raw).

The noodles absorbed the deliciousness. It's so awesome.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
