Snow is part of what makes the cold worth it.
Not being 100+F is what makes the cold worth it :P

Though I guess part, sure.

And yeah, driving in snow I wouldn't look forward to. The rest, though...? I would trade 110 in the shade for that in a heartbeat. Especially if it keeps the mosquitoes away~

It's not all snowmen and snowforts, but what's important is it's not mid-air sauna aquabatics and you as the primary meal of an all they can eat insectoid buffet. What I'm say is fuck swamps, huzzah for cold. Bog is where it's at, yo'.

There's a foot of snow outside right now.

Those who like snow haven't done the following:
1) Shoveled it.
2) Driven in excessive amounts of it.
3) Had cold, wet feet from melted snow seeping into their shoes.
4) Walked through a blizzard being chilled to the bone.

It's not all snowmen and snow forts, people.
I've done all these things, and love snow. It's worth it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I actually was so happy when it snowed here that once since I had a chance to do all those things.

3 and 4 were impossible though. Since I went out without shoes and thus didn't have anywhere for melted snow to accumulate. And I didn't feel cold despite still dressing like it was summer.

And for 2 I had to have my sister drive me. I was on a license suspension.

Snowmen and snow forts suck. Snow:

1. Looks beautiful.
2. Is great exercise either shoveling it or biking through it.
3. Makes warming up so much more satisfying.

If you live around snow, you know how to drive in it, so the only real hazard is living in a city full of people who don't.

Besides, as Bauglir said, it's still worth it. Better than SoCal weather, anyways.

I have returned, having successfully extrapolated my existence from Raleigh to Orlando despite many delays. And I see in those few hours the religion thread was nuked. Correlation equaling causation as it does; you all really need my presence. Well, fear not, for I have returned to you!

Due to the events of last week Wednesday, I'm currently of the opinion that blizzards are assholes. And I'm not a fan of 1, 3, or 4. 2 can be fun as long as you're the one driving and you're no where near an intersection.

Still, I don't dislike living in Wisconsin, because, 1. it isn't unbearably hot most of the year and 2. starting in fall, the weather gets cold and the bugs all die.

As far as French literature goes, I prefer L'Étranger.

Also, if you have anything resembling hills, skiing (or snowboarding, I guess)

Other than that, the story itself was kinda butchered. Artfully, but still butchered.
