I got in contact with my RL lesbian friend, she says she wasent suprised at all, but she's a mind reader so that makes sense.

WOO! Guess who's logged in on their fucking awesome new computer with a real graphics card and a much better display. The only downside is Windows 8, naturally, but I've found ways to fix most of the stupidity. Sad that there isn't a stable build of Firefox for it yet, though.

I haven't found a way to completely revert to Win7 (short of buying an install disc, and I'm not sure if that would work), just a number of programs that bring back old functionality (like the Start menu. They killed the fucking start menu!) and get rid of all the annoying app crap. I'd considered a Linux partition, but it seems like a bit much just for having slightly less annoyance during non-gaming times. I might reconsider after a month or so.

It'll totally work, unless MS has added somekind of shenanigans to Win8. You'd just need to boot from the install disk and tell the installer to use all of the hard drive instead of making a new partition; the installer should take care of erasing the newer OS and putting a less awkward one in.

In a sense. By default on startup you're treated to what is essentially a giant iphone display with all your favorite apps, including one which takes you to the desktop. I got a fix to kill that and boot to desktop, and another to restore the start menu as per earlier versions. But yes, the default is a massively unintuitive mess designed for Appleites. And frankly I'm not willing to give MS the benefit of the doubt re: shenanigans given how much effort they've put into getting rid of functionality in favor of the "Modern" (their words) OS. I might see if I can find a win7 install disk for cheap somewhere, though.
