Ladyfriend, as of last night, is a tabletop gamer. She enjoys my homebrew game, even as incomplete as it is. She also enjoyed watching my brother try to root out my usual tricks, only to fall prey to new ones.

Oh my god, so much is happening at school.
Math test tomorrow, I love tests.
We just started working on our DnD characters in the Nerd Club my school has.
My teacher apparently managed to get Valve to donate 20 copies of Portal 2 so we can use it to "learn physics".
All and all.
Fuck yeah.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I finally convinced a friend of mine to play DF, after a year or so of trying. Took a while. I won him over with descriptions of open-endedness, and complete creative freedom. You can be as balls to the wall or as conservative as you want.

Today, He comes to me, he says "Damn does this look complicated! It'll take me a week to read the manual!" Of course, I go "Manual?" And he goes "Yeah! the one in the menu!". I just started giggling.

It's going to be rough, and oh hell is it going to be FUN.

Theres a manual? I thought there was only a keybinds section, the save button, the abandon button, and volume control.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I haven't played in a bit, I do remember there was something in there which, to someone who's never opened it, looked like a manual. He showed it to me, hence my laughter. It really only tells you how to navigate the menus (Which is, to be fair, a difficult undertaking at first).

I mentioned the Wiki though, so he isn't completely lost. Hell, we may see him on these forums soon!

I had an idea for an artsy movie.  Black and white with a hazy bloom filter, set in winter.  A deaf child goes missing and people search for him in the woods, yelling out his name.  Atmosphere is dismal, with a minimalist echo-y soundtrack.

That's so artsy I think I got more condescending just by reading it.

You obviously missed the deeper themes present in the work. Try watching it again and actually thinking about it this time. I sniff and look down my nose at your vulgar peasant features, sirrah!

I have no idea how that went from that to that.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I prefer the standard wheatloaf, personally.

And now I'm hungry. Curse you, Bauglir!
