I am very slowly learning Unity (and relearning Java) in order to try and program a game. This is... extremely frustrating? But it's also kind of a happy thing because it's learning a skill for my own personal benefit and enjoyment.

... for a short moment, Logical, my brain interpreted your chibi-tachikoma-thing avatar as one of the Super Robot Wars renditions of Gundam Wing's Tallgeese.

I think maybe I should have eaten breakfast earlier than 10 pm.

It's a happy though, because I'm seeing random tiny mecha.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

That is great for San Francisco and all, but I'm still very disappointed to find out mast-ectomy does not mean what my sleep-deprived 5.30 o'clock mind had hoped it meant.

But yeah, on a serious note, awesome news.

I would love if male genital removal was called "mast-ectomy"

Firstly, the surgery is substantially more complicated then just removing it.

Also, please stop refering to male genital removal, lest you be defenstrated.

http://sfist.com/2012/11/09/san_francisco_to_cover_gender_reass.php

My feelings on this are pretty complicated. On the one hand, I'm really glad this matter is getting more attention, and hope this opens people's eyes, and makes concepts related to gender fluidity a bit more concrete in the public eye. On the other hand, for it to be covered even for the uninsured seems a bit much... gender reassignment doesn't strike me as a vital form of care, but something I'd rank among important, but not immediately necessary, forms of counseling and therapy.

I don't know what procedures California offers their uninsured, but if it's anything like the complete lack of options we have here, there are a number of procedures I think are more fundamental to human health and well-being. One last grain of salt, though; this is coming from a cisgendered person who medicates nothing, unless the alternative is debilitation or death.
