How would I go about beating that part of my body into submission?

Usually, by listening to gay people talk about their lives with an open mind, until you feel like they're part of Your People like anyone else.  Just go do a lot more of what makes you uncomfortable until it stops making you feel uncomfortable.

For example, having a gay friend who then at some point wants to get laid (much like you do!) may cause you to feel more sympathy for your similarities than disgust for your difference.

Well, Willow is the nickname here for my ex Rosewood's mother, so maybe not.  I picked "Cypress" because he has a morbid sense of humor.  Don't think he's old or serious enough yet to be a Hickory or an Oak, but... maybe...

I am so, so full of squees.  Let me tell you, he is just ... I met the guy I just broke up with and was enamored because he laughed louder than anyone else and seemed to have a vivacious sense of humor, and was super-handsome, but I discovered slowly that he wasn't that interested in having adventures or exploring things, and wasn't a very creative guy in the end.  But this one, somehow, the first time I really talked to him one-on-one, I thought: "Oh, he's one of mine."  That happens to me very rarely.  With Rosewood, with Rosewood's little brother Aspen, with Thyme.  Those are the only three I've met who resonated with me in that way, and I've had very close relationships with all of them.

So, you know... maybe.  Maybe!

Howdy~  I'm here as of last night, actually, and will be here a little bit longer as my life re-settles.  Probably just a couple of weeks, I would expect.  My hard work on everything is still paying off, but I've been depressed and losing weight for a while so I'm trying to make sure I keep in social contact and hearing good things that are happening to other people.

I'm going to be honest with you here, I don't think it matters if you reuse names here, I don't think any of us are going to be able to keep them all apart anyway. It's nothing personal, it's just that it's rather hard to see the nicknames for all the trees. </badpun> :p
