Yeast extract + Metal flakes?
What part of that is designed to be appealing to eat?
Further proof that the British have been steadily replacing their population with robots.
The fuck do you mean by replacing?

NASA is 3D-printing rocket engine parts.
So it's not just 3-d printing, it's 3-d laser printing. Cool.
And NASA is coming up with standards for their parts so that outside manufacturers can start manufacturing them for them.

Can you imagine a space program with distributed manufacturing?? Something like Seti@HOME, only (assuming a future where 3D printers are relatively common and inexpensive) instead of contributing spare CPU cycles, people just crank out spare parts for spaceships in their garage.

After wrangling with sound drivers for a week I finally possibly eradicated the scratchy sound issues I was having which somehow slow down sounds being played. It was weird and horrible.

Unfortunately, I'm realizing more and more that my computer is quickly becoming obsolete for my habits. 2 gigs of RAM cannot handle modern browsers and their media playing requirements. And while DDR3 is cheap DDR2 has yet to really drop down in the same way. Addressing the downfalls of my computer would require getting a whole new Motherboard, so this whole prospect is tough to swallow.

This just got me thinking about an entirely different method of deep-space exploration: sending a probe with an advanced 3D printer and vats of cloned organic tissue on it, and having the printer manufacture a team of cloned human explorers once it arrived.

Damnit NASA, now you're making me want to write short stories again.

Could make the idea of a Von Neumann probe a feasable one.

...Wow. I... Just realised how strongly I feel about yeast extract sandwich spread, and it scared me slightly.
In other news, get your piss-weak marmite out of this thread and eat some Vegemite, goddamnit!
Are you kidding me!? Marmite is way better and meatier than your spin-off "Vegimite".

In other news, cheesecake is awesome.

I meant meatier as in that abstract concept that I'm trying to put forwards but can't.
Substance of taste is pretty much the closest I can come to it in words.
