It could still be the Big Bang even if it's not the Biggest Bang. Objectively, it's still pretty damn huge. Ah, ninja'd.

Though, yeah. Depending on how the multiverse stuff pans out, it may be conceptually easy to out dakka the big bang. You just need two of them :P

And if it goes infinite worlds, well... there'd be plenty more than a measly two.

I still don't really grok why there couldn't be a second big bang, like, off in the distance, though. Given an oscillating "universe" and sufficient space, there could be plenty of other big bangs out there, somewhere, just completely incapable of interacting with this one.

That would kind of nix entropy, wouldn't it? If there were more Big Bangs still going on, just so far away we couldn't interact with them?
This conversation is making me unreasonably happy.

Eh, not really. Entropy would still apply to this system, and even if there's other ones out there if there's no interaction or possibility of interaction, then functionally (and effectively factually in regards to this system) they don't exist. So their existence or lack thereof would have no impact on entropy qua our Big Bang. Something something closed system, I think?

Ah, I see. But if we make the MOAR DAKKA, and could create our own Big Bangs, what would that imply for entropy?

Not to mention, time itself is only an attribute of our particular universe (what with being linked up with the whole space-time continuum thing), so talking about entropy increasing or decreasing over time in regards to other universes makes pretty much no sense. The may not have 'time,' their 'time' may be omni-directional, they may have multiple 'time' dimensions, which could be omni- or uni- directional.

Ah. Different physics and all that fun stuff.

"Well, we found another universe, but over there twelve plus nine equals gigantic floating space fetus in rainbow colors, so we closed the door quietly and cried til the screaming stopped."

Today, for the exceptional price of $12.90, I purchased a first-edition copy of Sadopaideia: Being the Experiences of Cecil Prendergast Undergraduate of the University of Oxford Shewing How he was Led Through the Pleasant Paths of Masochism to the Supreme joys of Sadism.

Honestly, given my bowler hat and pipe and general air of creepiness, I really think I need a first-edition Victorian (in this case Edwardian but the guy who wrote it was writing smutty novels all through the latter half of the 19th century too) pornographic novel.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I think we'd stop calling it the Big Bang after that.

The Big-But-Not-Quite-That-Big Bang? Or we could just call ours the Bigger Bang.

The modestly impressive bang.

edit: other happies, all my computer parts have shipped and are on their way except the case that my old parts will be crammed in.

Just called a friend I haven't seen in almost three years now, because I'm going to visit the city he lives in next week and we are probably going to meet. I'm looking forward to it, plus this invoked some nice memories.  :)
