You can grab hold of tiles in flight now, either after a jump or a fall. The success rate depends on how fast you are going, and I'm sure it'll depend on attributes and any relevant skills, although I'm not sure I've got a relevant skill named yet. I managed to jump between two far apart branches of a tree, then between trees, and I jumped along a rough wall, which seems like it should be quite dangerous.

I'm now imagining parkouring Dwarfs, which is about as amazing in my mind as a Volus shuffling.

Since I have yet to play adventure mode, my #1 question is how much of this we will see creatures doing in fortress mode.

The real question being if, with a sufficiently high skill, could they bounce themselves off of flying bolts? It'd be like one of those missile jumping scenes, only with crossbow bolts.

Then we just need a skill for catching projectiles, and you could have one insane mofo jumping from on high running along one stream of bolts and throwing all the others back at your dwarves. Suddenly melee combat would gain a significantly greater priority

Any elf capable of pulling that off would be instantly recognized as the new dwarf monarch.

I would elect that elf.  I'd then try to set him up with a magma chamber throne room.  Such power should not be.  But then he'd probably parkour himself out of there and seek vengeance.  The ploy to elect him mayor to prevent him from destroying the fortress would be all for naught.  Foiled by royalty tradition.

Nice. I can imagine smart players creating a variation of that frog game i forgot the name of. Elf on one side, mind control device on the other side. A minecart railgun shoots minecarts over a deep pit filled with magma. The elf has to jump over the minecarts to reach the mind control device and brutally murder him.
