But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Start it on the next DF release.
That way, in the future, when everyone has adopted your metric time system, Toady will get a mention.

I say we should use the existing calendar, just adjust the 0 date to the founding of the Akkadian Empire (2334 BCE) because it was the first* multi-state entity that we know of.

*So far, there may have been prior ones lost to history.

So this year would be 4346 CE. CE for the proper Current Era.

Small things, but transposing the wireless worked so I've got internet in bed at a different house, and, perhaps more importantly, I have been informed that I was previously gifted the fuzzy purple pillow that was at this house.

Said fuzzy purple pillow comes up roughly to my waist and is wider than I am. And it is soft. Whee~ I do believe it's this thing.. It's... a bit over two feet long and slightly over a foot wide, maybe? Or maybe it's 3' by 2-ish'. Either way, it's not huge, exactly, but it's sufficiently gratuitous for minor happy.

Extra pillow get!

Just listened to a video of Jon St. John reading an excerpt of Fifty Shades of Grey... Funniest thing I've heard in a while.

I'm now conceptualizing a scenario where all of these guys are reading said excerpt in chorus.

Possible to beatbox, I'unno. I think the experience would be improved by it. Maybe they alternate sections, some reading, the other beatboxing. Spontaneous scat performance from the 1600s? I can dig it.

THere was a comedy bit on the radio a few weeks ago of Bobcat Goldthwait reading from 50 shades of grey... It was hideous.

I got into an argument with my Biological Dad about our differences.

Namely our differences in post-apocalypse survival scenarios. He's more of a "Bug out to the wilds and avoid the madness" kind of guy, while I'm more of a "Build a pocket of civilization within the wreckage" kind of guy. For most situations, both plans had their merits, but we were pretty stumped when we got to the "Supervolcano erupts and blocks out the sun for decades, plunging us into an age of cold and eternal night" scenario. I think my plan of keeping a local hydroelectric dam running, and using the electricity to generate heat and light, and grow hydroponic food was pretty decent, considering the alternative.

With the sun blocked out, will the water cycle continue? There may not be enough rain to support the dam.

Go nuclear.
