I like Pluto. I remember being shattered when I discovered it was no longer a planet. :P

It's still a planet... It's just a dwarf planet.

Reading thing called world embryo. Chapter fifteen -- Suddenly!

Chainsword!

Expression on other guy's face was priceless. I laughed. Shit was completely out of left field. Suddenly protagonist's new phallus replacement equivalent (bigger than anyone else's, so far!) grew teeth and a trigger. Hilarious. Grade A entertainment.

I went on a good long bike ride today. Been cooped up inside for too long, so it feels great to be doing stuff!

The feeling of wind whipping at my hair was fantastic as I rode down a huge hill in our botanic gardens and the tired feeling afterward was that kind of tired that you feel is like "I did well!"

Heh, oddly enough the last time I rode a bike was when I visited Melbourne.
I wasn't very good, having never really done it much before, but it was great just to be actually able to ride a bike.
Sure, I kept bashing into walls/fences/buildings on narrow bits, but it was better than being too unfit to ride a bike without either crashing into something painful or just making a fool of myself. :P Now I want to ride a bike.

It's um, not. What happens when Mars and Earth are on opposites sides of Sun?

No, what we need is an oil cannon. To shoot it at Earth.
I know this is old, but I don't care. We could have the thing arc over the Sun, and install flexible joints and compressible sections to account for the differences in angle and distance between Earth and Mars as our orbits diverge. You'll have to use rockets to keep the whole thing stable, but we can easily supply those with our Dyson Sphere.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Solve one near-impossibility with something even closer to impossible! Genius! :P

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Ah, memories. The Vikings were the first civ to ever nuke me back in my civ 2 days... 15 years ago? Ouch. I was a world spanning Roman empire involved in a globe spanning war with the alost as powerful Mongols. From knowhere the Vikings nuke us both and start construction of a starship. Good times.
