So it looks like I might do some livestreaming over the weekend. If I can get it to work alright, I was discussing livestreams with a friend of mine and it led to her agreeing to help me try and test it out tomorrow, I've never done anything like this before and I don't know if I'll actually be able to do it, but it's something I've always wanted to try, and I figured I might as well try.

As long as you aren't eating the mic (if you have one), and whichever streaming software you have cooperates with whatever you be streaming, you should be ok.

I pulled a 72-hour stretch once in college. And took (and passed with a B+) a final in Roman history at the end of it. Jesus H. Christ that was probably the worst and hardest essay question I've ever managed to BS my way through. It did give me one of my treasured moments from college though. Had a major paper due for the same prof as this last exam. Took it to his office after I was done, handed it to him and mumbled something about it not being that good, and did he think I'd be better off taking it back and working on it more (and getting a late penalty) or leaving it as is.

He started leafing through and said, "Well....looks like you missed an opportunity to discuss the Marian reforms in-depth here, and I'd have liked to have seen more use of Tacitus' records of...."
*glances up at me wobbling on my feet*
"...when's the last time you slept?"

*counting slowly on my fingers*

"Three days. I think."

"It's a B. Go home."

BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER. (and actually, he was a pretty awesome history prof...took several of his classes and he wrote me a recommendation for grad school 10 yrs later)

I've heard it can be quite entertaining. I know someone whose extreme sleep deprivation had them hallucinating dragons by the side of the road. To quote them: "It was awesome!"
As I recall I do remember nearly dozing off. At that point I was focusing on my hand to stay awake, at which point I noticed the shadow of my hand start moving. For some reason at the time, that seemed absolutely normal.

Pretty much the only hallucination I've had caused by sleep deprivation. Generally, not good for your health at all. Three days is the mark where weird things happen. It also happens to be the point when you start suffering hell.

Not really a coincidence.

AND THEN EVERYTHING EXPLODED.

If every level was like the one he played (at least in you getting real choices, and having bunches of secrets and the like, which probably isn't true sadly) and that you choices make more then a superfical difference as the game goes on (again, fairly unlikley), then this game looks like it will be pretty bloody awesome.
Yes, its not open world (instead having a series of levels), which makes me sad a bit, but if that allows for a truly rich experience during the levels you can explore and for real choices (instead of things like fable, where you can choose to kill people for no reason or save them from monsters, and no matter what you do there is no real effect after your done), then its totally fine by me.

I had a full day shift last Wednesday, as I mentioned before. I can endure the daytime well. By four in the morning, however (aka, 20 hours awake), it started to get bad. It wasnt that I was sleepy (I wasn't). But I was getting really really dumb, and my ability to make choices (or even to choose one option or another in a dillema, instead of just going Burridan's ass on it)  was severely impaired.

Man you guys are lightweights when it comes to sleep deprivation.

Seriously... I used to pull all-nighters for fun... I wouldn't feel any negative effects until I pulled two in a row.  I've gone three days in a row without sleep probably a few dozen times in my life, mostly in my teen years.  Never suffered hallucinations or anything.

My record was an unintentional thing caused by anxiety.  I went on a trip with my family and my best friend of three years, who I'd known exclusively online up to that point, just happened to be on the way.  We took the detour to see her on both our way out and our way back.  This was after 8 years of not having any friends in real life.  I was a fucking mess.  The trip was a week long and I barely slept or ate the entire time.  I didn't sleep at all the first three nights, managed to get about three rough hours of sleep the 4th night, and then didn't sleep at all for another three straight days.  The lack of food or sleep didn't get to me at all, though.  I never had any sort of hallucinations and I don't even look tired in the pictures.  I was just fritzed out on pure emotional energy and anxiety.  Yeah... she broke contact with me shortly after that.

What really broke me was my first full college semester as a parent.  I averaged four hours of sleep a night for four straight months, and mixed at least a dozen all-nights in that period as well, with a couple of those being consecutive.  By the end of it, I was randomly falling asleep on my feet, and the only way I could stay awake while driving was by screaming at the top of my lungs.  I have never fully recovered from that period, and it was 8 years ago.

Heh. I've built a tolerance with sleep deprivation. I can go over two or three days without sleep, or a day if there's a lot to be done. I'm just saying it's not something healthy to be doing. Generally the only situation where you ever want to go a day without sleep is if there is something important on the scale of saving the world to be done.
