For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Honey is amazing in all forms and if you disagree you are an immoral person.
Well, that didn't work.

I have the funds to pay off my final credit card this month... if I am willing to be dangerously broke for my next 2-3 paychecks.

That would leave me free of financial aftermath of my ex. Finally. After nearly 2 years.

I would be left only owing on my student loans and mortgage.

So I'm apparently being trusted with additional responsibilities at work. Moreso than people who've been here for triple the time I have. The only other people assigned to this project are technically supervisory staff. So that's a pretty good boost to the ego. Downside is, due to the way the employment works, there's no chance of increased pay to go with this and promotions aren't really a thing unless I plan on being a lifer (I don't), but hey, resume filler.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

But we let the bees keep their honey - we sure as hell don't want it. Are you saying that they're drowning in their excess?

disclaimer: I don't hate honey.

And Beevius Maximus did look upon the rising tide of sweet goodness, and he did despair, for his land would soon be lost to the selflessness of the Gods of the Netted Hats.

Honey is delicious, and superior to sugar in 90% of applications (there remain occasions for dry sugar, and those rare ones in which the flavor is undesirable - though I can think of none). No good on its own, though (a honeycomb is, of course, a whole other story). Too sickly-sweet.

I think I might have kinda found a guy? Not sure.

He's cute and we're... really good friends? He also has a crazy busy life and understand that mine is at present. He seems to like cuddling me, which is huge on my list, right up there with not trying to take advantage of me. I dunno. He's pretty cool about the whole thing so far, but it's weird. He hasn't asked me out or anything. He just sorta seems to be slipping into the role. I'm not sure I can call him a boyfriend, or even a guy I'm dating? He does seem to be moving himself slowly towards that position though. I might or might not be imagining or wishfully thinking some of this, but he does lay down with me on the couch to snuggle and watch TV so...? Also he hasn't tried anything forward yet, which is nice really. Meh, I've said, "this one won't be like the others before" too many times to say it again. I dunno I'm just happy to be held sometimes. [shrugs]

I'm very impressed regardless True, you're an active member on these forums, have a crazy long work-week, take time and consideration to be a cool person to people, AND you somehow have enough time to find same-leaning guys to date or whatever you're doing.

How do you do it True? Are you living in a parallel universe where the days are 36 hours long?

Well to be honest there's the "burning out" thing. That's unfortunately real and I can't keep it up forever. People don't get me or what I do. [shrugs].

As for the guy, we aren't really active, we're more exhausted together if anything. I completely gave up on dating, and I"m not sure this is a dating situation exactly, but he's cute and nice to me and watches some TV with me while holding me. I don't know what that is, but I'm hoping it keeps up.
