You've heard of the 100 year war? Try the 1700 year war. The three remaining nations have been locked in an eternal
death struggle for almost 2000 years. Peace seems to be impossible. Every time a cease fire is signed, the Vikings will surprise attack me or the Americans the very next turn, often with nuclear weapons.

That thing needs to be a tabletop rpg setting or something.

Yeah, motherfuck...

Those maps and the description are awe-inspiring.  Admittedly, it's not that different from other futuristic settings in fiction, but the fact that it arose naturally in a videogame that wasn't exactly built for that kind of character is incredible.

So three super nations are at constant war with each other, and all the other nations in the world have been amalgamated into one of these three in a world where all of everyone's efforts goes into the war effort.

This sounds a lot like 1984.

EDIT: Apparently a lot of redditers saw the same thing, go figure.

Took Roxy for a walk around a couple blocks.  I figured out how to get her to slack-leash walk properly, get her so tired she can't outpace me.  Easy.

She peed on a fire hydrant, way to defeat those harmful stereotypes Roxy.  Technically, she peed on every natural and artificial edifice she saw, I don't know where she was keeping it all.

Also, saw a girl mowing the lawn in her bra.   Nice.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I've seen this about umpteenmillion times... Indiana, I guess.

Never a girl, though.  In fact, it's very rare to see a female mowing a lawn at all, now that I think about it.

Totally unrelated happy: co-worker's birthday, so somebody spotted the bucks to go buy about 30 high-end designer cupcakes. These things are like a pound each, eight inches high, and have enough sugar and cream in them to power a generator. Sooooo good...I'm eating one that's covered in peanut butter mousse frosting with peanut-caramel drizzle and crusted with honey-roasted peanuts. I call it the "George Washington Carver Muthaf**kin' Special".
peanut butter?

ewww.
Blasphemer.

Also, it's been an hour now, and I've finally finished off the frosting and gotten down to the actual cupcake. I think that was probably only 800 calories or so... :o

And when we first started eating them, I made the prediction that 45-60 minutes later "this place is going to look like f**king Jonestown". On cue, sugar crash has turned me and my co-workers into barely functional blobs. It's hilarious and sad all at the same time.

EDIT: Oh god....the cupcake itself is filled with butter cream. You magnificent baking bastards!  :'(

This pasta sauce I made is basically habanero custard. Why is it still delicious.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Indeed. Peanut Butter is awesome. Unless it's chunky; chunky can burn for all I care.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
